Overview

As an innovative advancement in orthodontic care, clear teeth aligners work to gradually shift the teeth over time while remaining virtually unseen as they blend into your natural teeth. At Ashcraft Orthodontics, skilled orthodontist Dr. Michael Ashcraft provides clear teeth aligners for his patients that are desiring a more discreet alternative to traditional teeth-straightening methods. Clear aligners allow you to improve both the function and appearance of your teeth with more comfort and convenience for a more confident smile. Best Candidates

Many adult patients choose clear teeth aligners for their orthodontic care because they allow you to avoid the look of traditional approaches, such as metal braces. As a more discreet treatment option, clear aligners may also allow for an expedited treatment process. These appliances are also custom made to fit comfortably in your mouth and can make home care more efficient since they can be removed for brushing and flossing. They also do not require any dietary restrictions since they can be taken out when eating. Individuals who play sports may benefit from clear aligners because unlike traditional braces, there is no real risk for injury to your soft tissue. Clear teeth aligners are typically provided to correct orthodontic issues that include:

  • An openbite
  • A crossbite
  • An underbite
  • Gapped teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Turned or rotated teeth

What to Expect

After evaluating your overall oral health, Dr. Ashcraft will be able to better decide if you would benefit from clear teeth aligners. Your custom-made aligners will be created using digital or physical dental impressions, as well as a digital panoramic x-ray of your teeth and jaw. Once they have been created in a dental laboratory, you will come back to our practice so that Dr. Ashcraft can make sure they fit properly.

Throughout your orthodontic treatment, you will receive new sets of trays to continue to shift your smile over time. Each set is typically worn for around two weeks. It is important that you wear your aligners for around 20 hours a day to ensure the best possible results, only removing them for eating, brushing, or flossing.

Follow-Up

During your treatment, you will need to continue to attend follow-up appointments at our practice about every 4 – 6 weeks so that your progress can be evaluated. It is also important that you stick to a proper at-home oral care routine and attend regular dental cleanings. Once your teeth have reached their ideal position with your clear aligners, Dr. Ashcraft will be able to provide you with a retainer to ensure that you maintain your new smile. Throughout your treatment, if you misplace or damage one of your aligners, contact our office so that we can replace it for you and you can continue your treatment without any setbacks.

Insurance Coverage

The coverage of your orthodontic care will depend on your insurance provider and your specific plan. Prior to your treatment, a member of our team will contact your insurance company to determine your coverage and out-of-pocket costs. We will also provide you with information on the payment methods we accept and financial planning through CareCredit®.

Discreet Options

With clear teeth aligners, you can experience a straighter smile without having to worry about dealing with the appearance of metal braces. Dr. Michael Ashcraft offers this innovative orthodontic care to both teens and adults to allow them to experience a confident, healthy smile.
