Overview

At Ashcraft Orthodontics, we employ the use of advanced dental technology to ensure comfortable, comprehensive care is provided to each of our patients. Digital impressions will be taken of your upper and lower arches during your first visit, prior to beginning your orthodontic treatment. These impressions provide our staff with detailed information about your teeth and bite, allowing Dr. Michael Ashcraft to create a unique and highly tailored orthodontic treatment plan. We use the iTero 3D intraoral scanner to complete the digital imaging process quickly, efficiently, and comfortably. The advanced technology is comprised of a lightweight wand that we simply place over your teeth and jaw. This eliminates the need for traditional putty impressions that can be both messy and uncomfortable. To learn more about iTero 3D digital impressions, schedule a visit to one of our orthodontic practices in Little Rock or Jacksonville, AR today.

Best Candidates

Digital impressions are considered more comfortable than traditional impressions and provide Dr. Ashcraft with greater detail and information about your teeth and jaw. This approach is more comfortable for all patients but is especially appreciated by patients with a more sensitive gag reflex, including children and adults with small mouths and/or narrow arches. We use digital impressions before a wide range of treatments, such as the creation of expanders, space maintainers, retainers, and clear aligner trays. Ashcraft Orthodontics also uses digital impressions to plan your future orthodontic treatment with traditional braces.

What to Expect

Our use of digital technology by iTero means taking your impressions will be fast, comfortable, and accurate. The technology does not require the use of putty-like materials so our impressions are cleaner, faster, and more effective. The process of taking the impressions is quite simple and involves placing our intraoral scanning wand over your teeth while a painless and safe laser transmits detailed information to a nearby computer screen. A 3D replication of your teeth and gums is created and available to be reviewed within about 2 – 3 minutes.

Follow-Up

After our team completes the creation of your 3D models, Dr. Ashcraft will begin reviewing the information with advanced CAD/CAM software, which allows him to plan your final treatment results with great precision. After reviewing your images and planning your treatments, Dr. Ashcraft and a member of our team will begin to explain your treatment options, as well as the process involved with each treatment.

Insurance Coverage

The cost of digital impressions is usually included in the cost of the recommended treatment plan. Ashcraft Orthodontics accepts most major insurance plans and offers special financing options to help your family afford the orthodontic care needed to protect and improve your smiles. If there are any out-of-pocket expenses for your treatment, we are happy to help you find a flexible solution to cover the cost of your care.
