If your teeth do not fit together properly, it may be damaging to your gums and teeth, and can also result in discomfort in your jaw. In order for your mouth to function properly, it is important for your teeth to align just right. Otherwise, you could experience pain or discomfort, multiple oral problems, or damage to your jaw, teeth, or gums.
At Ashcraft Orthodontics, an analysis of your bite is performed to determine if you have a poor bite or a dental malocclusion. To complete a bite evaluation, Dr. Michael Ashcraft utilizes innovative technologies at his practices in Little Rock and Jacksonville, AR to check the potency of your teeth and also to ascertain how much pressure is exerted by each tooth. A bite analysis could identify when you have a crossbite, underbite, or overbite. We also assess your jawbone, muscles, and teeth as a whole to try to find any underlying difficulties, which might be brought on by a poor bite. If not handled correctly, a poor bite may result in future issues, which could be debilitating or painful so it is crucial to get a diagnosis when you observe a painful or uncomfortable bite. To receive a bite analysis if you are experiencing pain or discomfort, contact Ashcraft Orthodontics at one of our Arkansas facilities.
"First let me say this, like I have seen other reviews saying the staff in the back are very pleasant to be around, nice, courteous, and very friendly, I would agree and I haven’t really ran into rudeness at the front desk BUT however since COVID has started I was not informed on anything. My daughter had an appointment, they didn’t call to let me know they had shut down and will try to reschedule in the future after knowing a little more information. I had to call them and got the automated recording that their office was closed. Then didn’t get a call to let us know they had reopened and if we needed anything as far as fixing braces or other problems with her braces, THEN they didn’t call to let us know they where now able to remove braces now, I once again had to call them!! I know there have records of their patients and they should have on of the staff members at least calling patients. Who knows, we could have had her braces off by now and I've being waiting several months wondering about this information. The last phone conversation I had with their office the lady said they would inform me when they moved into the phase where they could start removing braces, but no call. I had to call them!!! It’s a little frustrating when there is no communication."- K.T. / Google / Aug 28, 2020

There are several reasons to receive a bite diagnosis and decide whether a disorder is present. Several of the most typical symptoms include chipped, cracked, crooked, or broken teeth, pain while chewing, chronic jaw aches or headaches, inflamed or rigid jaw, along with receding gums. Sometimes, a misaligned bite may result in teeth grinding, also called bruxism, which may cause additional pain along with a reduction of dental enamel. When you are experiencing issues in the alignment of your bite, it is crucial to seek a bite analysis to determine if an orthodontic solution may be available. If left untreated, a misaligned bite will not get better on its own and can cause even more issues in the future.
What to Expect
At Ashcraft Orthodontics, Dr. Ashcraft utilizes state-of-the-art technology to perform your bite analysis. With iTero® 3D intraoral scanning, he can receive a thorough look at how your teeth are fitting together. Additionally, he may utilize electronic imaging and a bite study along with a physical exam for a complete evaluation. Once the problems with your bite are recognized, there are a couple of treatment methods based on the intensity of your circumstance. Some common treatment options include orthodontic care with braces or clear aligners, night guards, or in severe cases, orthognathic surgery.
Depending on what treatment is necessary to fix your misaligned bite, you may need to attend regular follow-up appointments with Dr. Ashcraft to continue your care. In some cases, you may be referred to your general dentist or a specialist for appropriate care. Like with any orthodontic treatment, it is also wise to continue to keep a correct home dental hygiene regimen, including regular flossing, brushing, and mouthwash.
Your cost for a bite evaluation depends upon the sort of imaging that is used. Before your bite analysis, our financial staff will get in touch with your insurance provider to ascertain what could be insured and if there will be any extra expenses. Ashcraft Orthodontics takes many payment options, and we will be able to help you find low-interest medical financing with CareCredit® so that your therapy is as affordable as possible.
When you are experiencing any abnormalities with your bite or feel pain when you eat or speak, you might want to consider a bite evaluation. Dr. Ashcraft can diagnose what could be causing the issue and assist in providing adequate treatment before additional issues happen. Employing state-of-the-art technologies, Ashcraft Orthodontics will collect all of the information required to provide you with a complete analysis and customized treatment to renew your bite and dental wellness.
